Lucian Books
and Wine

Lucian Books and Wine is a hybrid concept—part bookstore, part restaurant, part wine bar. Shelves of art books and cookbooks sit alongside an extensive wine program.

Brand Identity

The system centers on typography. A restrained serif wordmark anchors the brand, while an arched secondary mark introduces a softer, more conversational tone. This balance allows the identity to move easily across applications—from menus and coasters to merchandise and environmental graphics—without losing clarity.

Color plays a supporting role. A palette of muted, material-driven tones reinforces a sense of permanence. Rather than relying on high contrast or trend-driven color, the system leans into subtle variation and repetition.

Lucian’s wine list is updated and reprinted quarterly, calling for a system that could evolve often without losing its identity. The cover is built around a bold typographic composition that shifts each quarter through color while maintaining a consistent structure. Large-scale letterforms create immediate presence, allowing each edition to feel distinct but unmistakably part of the same system.

The format is intentionally simple and tactile, designed for efficient production and frequent updates without sacrificing quality.

The website extends this logic into a digital space. Content is paced deliberately, with room to browse rather than navigate quickly.
